Laura Nedved
Senior Experience Designer UX Researcher & Strategist

Senior Designer/Developer, LXD/UX Researcher & Strategist, blending research, design and systems thinking with storytelling to create meaningful, human-centered experiences.

My Background and Interests

Years ago, I began pursuing a degree in computer science but realized—somewhere in the middle of a Pascal programming class—that my strengths lie in other areas. That recognition led me to a career filled with creativity, storytelling, user experience research, instructional design, and interactive learning experience design and development.

Today, I blend design-thinking and user experience with a perpetual curiosity about how people engage with technology, and how I might improve that experience. And, I still fascinatingly geek out over AR, VR, AI, and emerging technology.

Senior Interactivity Producer (1999-2008)

Over a decade of producing, designing, and testing custom, high-end interactive eLearning experiences gave me an appreciation for rapid prototyping, usability testing, and agile development.

As a consultant, I gained broad industry exposure while leading projects for Fortune 500 companies.

Along the way, I had the privilege of working with some of the field’s most innovative storytellers and interaction designers—which expanded both my creative knowledge and technical expertise.

L&D Consultant (2009 - present)

This phase of my career expanded my expertise in designing, building, and testing interactive experiences across a wide range of platforms and audiences (mobile app, desktop, LMS, CMS). I moved into broader initiatives—solving onboarding and technology challenges, leading change management efforts, and addressing complex needs across corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors.

I led cross-functional, multi-organizational teams and collaborated with groups serving diverse populations, including:

  • urban and rural communities,

  • immigrants, and

  • users with low literacy, and sometimes low tech skills.

These experiences shaped my understanding of human adaptability and the critical role of inclusive, accessible design.

I also contributed to the professional UX and training communities, serving on the Program Committee for UXPA-MN and the Executive Committee for PACT-MN.

I’m currently following my UX/UI passion into the worlds of AI with Figma Make and Lovable design.

Learning Experience Design, UX/UI (2020 - Pres)

This role gave me deeper insight into enterprise systems, allowing me to “look under the hood” of corporate technology and think more strategically across teams and platforms.

I designed and user-tested a mock-member training environment to support the rollout of a new customer care software platform. I also:

  • championed updates to the LMS interface to improve usability and engagement,

  • refreshed compliance and product training courses,

  • fixed technology issues (which reduced LMS data transmission failure rates on eLearning courses from around 30% to less than 2%),

  • expanded content offerings,

  • and supported LMS contract reviews.

Additional initiatives included helping to design a new onboarding training program, troubleshooting and documenting LMS and CMS functionality, creating standards for ILT, Hybrid, and eLearning, consulting with Cornerstone LMS on custom solutions, developing a new SharePoint site using formal UX research, qualitative and quantitative feedback, reporting, analysis, and site improvement, and mentoring team members on interactive eLearning design and development.
